Some of the story behind why the Lo-Fi Social Club closed went dark is starting to emerge.
Peter Goode, who booked the club for about six months, sent me an email statement Monday with his side of the story. ...
According to Goode, owner Neil Freebairn never paid him for booking the club, despite repeated promises to do so.
"I have wasted half a year of my life because of Neil's promises to me and beyond not fulfilling those, he is not paying me money that he owes me and is illegally using my copyrighted images on his website which he refuses to take down," Goode wrote. "I implore you to not support this club in any way shape or form."
Freebairn has not returned any of my calls for comment on why the club is no longer hosting shows.
Goode plans to pursue legal action against Freebairn.
"I don't think anybody should have to endure anything like what happened to me or bands that were left standing outside of a shut down club or traveling bands that have shown up to find out that Neil booked another show instead and never showed the decency to call and notify the bands," he wrote.
"This club owner is a dishonest crook that should not be worked with. I intensely regret ever having any involvement with him and his establishment."

While doing a google search for Neil Freebairn I came across this thread. I loaned Neil 2000 dollars a year ago to help him get things started with the club and a possible record shop and he has been promising to pay me back for 2 years. Every time we go to meet for payment he doesnt show and now his cellphone is cutoff and hes not at his address anymore. I gave him that money in good faith and i have nothing to show for it. Neil Freebairn is a thief and a liar and has been promising and putting me off for 2 years, shame on me for not having him sign anything i let my good faith get in the way of a business deal.

Has Neil Freebairn local thief from baltimore fled to canada

Word on the street has it that Neil Freebairn has hitch hiked back to canada. I have heard this from several people and 2 that say its true. He does have roots in Canada and may be searching for spots to open up a club like lo fi social so he may steal from musicians and bands and local artists who are just trying to get their name out there. In the music scene Neil Freebairn may come across as trying to help you but he is not as many of us have found out the hard way. He has stolen from too many people to count and we all are trying to track him down to get answers.

He may be in canada looking to find web programming work or design work as well as a front to open a club to begin his thievery again.

i would like to also point out that neil freebairn has stolen from me and many of my friends as we helped build that damn place. I tried tracking his ass down at 1230 dellwood and call his phone and that snake is hiding in a hole. He has alot of enemies and people he owes money to and he better be pawning that shit for a ticket to romania because his ass is grass and about 60 people are the lawnmower. That kid is a manic depressed thief with a 2nd home some call sheppard pratt, anyone and everyone needs to avoid him at all costs and like Peter said he will trick you with his calm voice and relaxed tone but jump on your wallet, drugs or anything of value and dissapear like keyser soze. We are interested to talk to anyone else who has been taken by local baltimore con artist and thief Neil Freebairn from the Lo Fi Social Club. He is notorious from stealing your items while your on stage, not returning artwork to owners and not paying employees and workers.

He is now hiding out and avoiding everyone who he owes money too or has their items. Neil Freebairn has been blacklisted from all pawn shops and most likely wont be showing his face for a while unless its to head to shepperd pratt. We do have many people out looking for him and police have been notified.

He does also pose as a web designer or a programmer as well as club owner, curator and business owner. He is a full time thief and crook and lets try and get this guy before he steals from anyone else. If a club pops up in your area that is owned by Neil Freebairn please beware.
